To avoid the stigma of wearing easy-to-spot orthopaedic sandals, these shoes come in a variety of styles and colours. dhonu's story
Dhonu, being fitted with his shoes on the left, used to work on a tea plantation, sometimes wearing flimsy flip-flops that did not provide any protection. Sadly, his feet are affected by leprosy and because he did not feel any pain, he often injured his feet without realising it. As a result, his injuries were not treated and they got worse, and then his feet developed ulcers.
He was delighted when Rishi, an expert shoemaker, created a special, tailor-made pair of protective sandals for him, and the medical team offered surgery for his ulcers.
