The Leprosy Mission in India offers a wide range of vocational courses to become a Dress Maker, Bank Clerk, Computer Programmer, Electrician, Mechanic, Nursery Assistant, Welder and other careers. These government-recognised courses focus on providing students with hands-on instruction, which leads to a diploma or certificate. Your gift will give a student affected by leprosy the opportunity to transform their future. Nagajothi's Story
“My name is Nagajothi. My mother is affected by leprosy. People see my mum’s leprosy as a curse. The prejudice got even worse when I was diagnosed at 14. I remember relatives and neighbours behaving differently towards me. I was confused and felt hopeless, but when I was 18 I was offered a place on The Leprosy Mission’s Vocational Training Programme.
I chose to train to be an electrician which is a two-year course. I’m going to prove myself by getting a job so I can transform my life, look after others and help my family.”
